Last month, Mirah returned to announce her 7th album Dedication, which will be released on Double Double Whammy and Mirah's long-running imprint Absolute Magnitude on February 20th.
Today, Mirah is sharing another preview of the LP, a track called "The Ballad of The Bride of Frankenstein."
The rolling, vaporous "Bride of Frankenstein" erupts from a whisper to a yelp as it rakes its fingers through all the strains a relationship can weather over the years.
Mirah says of the track: "This is a pretty true to form ballad. You know. 'A narrative poem or song which tells a dramatic, often tragic or romantic story in short, rhythmic stanzas.' In this ballad you can wonder, is the singer the bride of the Monster Frankenstein, or the bride of Doctor Frankenstein, the creator of the monster? These two characters are often interchanged with each other, both accidentally and on purpose- I'm playing with that. And I am inquiring, what parts of us are innate and what parts are created by circumstance and relationship? What are the places of convergence between these three characters and what sets them apart from each other? You can also wonder, is it all as in a dream, where all the characters are you, or all the characters are me."
