Double Double Whammy is an independent record label founded in 2011 by Dave Benton and Mike Caridi while attending SUNY Purchase, a liberal arts college in New York State. Rooted in a DIY, artist-first ethos and inspired by labels like Merge and K Records, the two began releasing tapes for their own band LVL UP and other local artists tied to the SUNY Purchase and surrounding music scenes. Together, Dave and Mike grew the label out of dorm rooms, shared apartments, and eventually a small office inside Brooklyn’s now-defunct community art space Silent Barn, before Dave’s departure in 2016. Since then, Mike has continued to guide DDW, and in 2018 the label entered into a partnership with indie-rock mainstay Polyvinyl Record Co., expanding its reach while maintaining its independence. With a focus on community, artist development, and creative freedom, DDW's catalog spans gentle folk, to indie rock, to forward-thinking pop and beyond, unified by a commitment to authenticity and craft.
